So far we have learnt a little about relaxation.  Relaxation gives stress relief.  It is important because relief of stress frees the mind.  There can also be a positive side to stressful situations in terms of challenges and opportunities, including for mental and spiritual development.  But that is not negative.  Relief will be a process you will continue to encounter once you learn meditation also.
 
STRESS RELIEF
 
Many say that today's life is full of stress. Although we have reached a high level of material wealth and development, we encounter in our hectic pace of life increasing tension and fatigue. Despite our modern achievements, many people feel restless and unhappy, because life is not in balance any more. Environmental stress and bad personal habits also add to this strain. All this results in various physical and mental imbalances such as depression, high blood pressure, heart disease and even cancer.
 
The slide shows to follow give you a run down on the necessity to deal with stress.  The easiest way is through meditation.  To help you get an understanding of meditation, some initial emphasis has been put on methods of relaxation.  This is just a lead in to real meditation and advanced techniques of meditation as well as an understanding of the body-mind relationship.
